CHRISTMAS & NEW YEAR’S EVE ALCOTHON COMMITTEES

Alcothons are a time for AA members and friends to come together and share their experience, strength, and hope with each other in a social setting, renew old friendships, and share refreshments with each other. It should be a time of celebration and a place where the alcoholic who still suffers may find love and support. The 2024 Christmas and New Year’s Eve Alcothons are sponsored by Tucson Area Intergroup, Inc. and hosted by volunteer homegroups. Festivities include marathon meetings, speaker meetings, a sobriety countdown, and more!

HOME ANSWERING SERVICE

The hotline is in service 24 hours a day 7 days a week thanks to our volunteers! This service commitment is only once a month for a few hours AND it is done from the comfort of your own home. If this sounds appealing and you have one or more years of sobriety, please call (520) 882-7422 to arrange for a half hour training session and to find out which shifts are open.

12-STEP VOLUNTEERS

We also need people with one or more years of sobriety to serve as 12th step volunteers. Currently this commitment is done primarily over the phone. To ensure the hotline remains open, our Home Answering volunteers use people from the 12th step list when people call in and need to talk. If you would like to sign-up for our 12th Step list, please send your full name, phone number, and zip code to info@aatucson.org.

CENTRAL OFFICE VOLUNTEERS

Monday through Friday for one shift, one day per week. The morning shift is from 9:30AM-1:30 PM and the afternoon shift is from 1:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Volunteers answer the hotline, make reminder calls to Home Answering Service volunteers, sell AA literature and chips and a variety of other office tasks as needed.

AA OF THE AIR

AA of the Air historically recorded speakers and broadcasted them over the radio for several decades. In the age of the internet, these speakers are now available on our website. The AA of the Air meeting is now called Something Less Stuffy.
